Indoor Wedding Barn Cooling
Chill Out installed an indoor cooling solution at De Uijlenes Farm Wedding Venue in Gansbaai for a wedding celebration held on 21 February 2026.
The event took place inside The Old Barn, one of the venue’s most distinctive spaces. Originally a 19th-century dairy and agricultural structure, the barn has been carefully converted into a rustic indoor event venue while preserving its historic character. The building features original stonework, exposed timber elements, fireplaces, and large glass doors. These doors open onto a wooden deck overlooking the surrounding fynbos landscape and farm dam.
The venue offers a warm and atmospheric setting for weddings and celebrations. However, the historic structure does not include permanent air-conditioning systems. With summer temperatures in the Overberg region running high, additional airflow was required to maintain comfortable conditions for guests during the evening celebration.
The client specifically requested targeted cooling for approximately 60 guests, rather than attempting to cool the entire venue space. We strategically positioned the units around the main dining and seating areas to promote consistent airflow and reduce heat buildup.

Cooling planning in rustic or heritage-style venues often requires a more measured approach. Rather than relying on full venue cooling, carefully placed evaporative air coolers can deliver effective localized airflow where guests gather. This can improve comfort without disrupting the aesthetic or structure of the venue.
