For the SONA 2023 cooling setup at the official Accreditation Area, Chill Out was selected to provide a fully managed air cooling solution for a critical government event. Media, officials, and VIPs attending the State of the Nation Address used the Cape Town venue as their secure accreditation hub.
The event took place from 5–9 February 2023, with installation completed on 4 February and collection on 10 February. The setup needed to be professional, quiet, and reliable. The venue was approximately 600 square meters and had no existing fixed cooling system. As a result, this made a temporary mobile solution essential.
Specifically, Chill Out supplied the following equipment and support:
✅ 20 high-performance air coolers, positioned for maximum airflow
✅ A dedicated backup generator to maintain power stability
✅ A team of on-site technicians to monitor and support the system
✅ Emergency backup units, ready to deploy if needed
The mobile air coolers operated continuously throughout the event, delivering steady airflow with low noise levels — crucial for the high-pressure and high-security environment. Accreditation lines ran smoothly, and staff working long hours inside appreciated the consistent temperature control.
Overall, the SONA 2023 cooling operation highlighted Chill Out’s ability to deliver at scale, under pressure, and within strict timelines. As a result of this success, we earned recommendations for future national-level events requiring temporary climate control.
